THE DAVID F. BLUFORD EDUCATION AWARD
Established in 2010 in honor of David Bluford, The 1906 Project, Inc. recognizes Queens and Nassau County, New York high school female seniors for their academic and extra curricular achievements in pursuit of their college degree.

In keeping with our mission The 1906 Project, Inc., continues to support quality, local community-service initiatives impacting people in the neighborhoods where they live, work and play.

Empowering young people with mentoring, leadership activities, chess programs, and initiatives that encourage confidence and personal growth.
Providing resources, technical expertise, and partnerships that strengthen local organizations and improve neighborhoods where people live and work.
Helping families and seniors through meal distributions, holiday food programs, and community outreach that brings hope to those in need.
The 1906 Project received a special award from the Black Spectrum Theater for serving the Southeast Queens community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 1906 Project helped deliver free COVID-19 testing to nearly 400 Southeast Queens residents at York College.
The 1906 Project celebrated its 10th Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway with gifts and family-friendly activities.
Oscar Hopkins celebrated his 50th year working as a licensed barber in the Queens and Brooklyn communities.
